FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES.

12 Medical Students have benefited from a scholarship under the Cameroon-Arizona Partnership (CAP) in a ceremony chaired by Vice-Chancellor Ngomo Horace Manga. “No one can be indifferent when a woman gives birth and the child dies”. The funds will assist the students to improve their education in addressing issues of maternal and neonatal mortality.

The Vice-Chancellor praised the beneficiaries for their dedication to study despite the challenges. He equally thanked Dean Halle-Ekane and his collaborators (especially those whose efforts led to the initiation of this partnership), for the quality of training given to students of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Since 2014, CAP has contributed in the teaching, research and outreach activities of the Faculty of Health Sciences: routine cervical cancer screening have been carried out for women and young girls in our communities; UB has benefited from the donation of medical equipments some of which were sent to the Regional Hospitals in Buea and Limbe, amongst others.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Larissa Jila Manjo thanked the University Administration for the quality of training they receive.

At the end of the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor called on the recipients to continue to uphold the standards of UB and to note that “to whom much is given, much is expected”.
