About CEN

The main goal of the Department of Computer Engineering is to train the engineers in the different fields of Computer Engineering and give to the graduate engineers an ability and capability engineers to shift their mindset from being job seekers to job creators.

The Department of Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Buea, teaches courses in software engineering and network engineering. In their training and to be operational, multidisciplinary fields can help the students trained to improve their performance and their capacity to work in a team. The introduction of an upgraded Engineering Undergraduate program and an Engineering Master’s in Computer Engineering is intended to address this issue. But foremost, the job market demands that employees be very knowledgeable in their specialties, be flexible and responsive to the ever changing job market of IT. The department of Computer Engineering through these programs aims to raise its Engineering profile and that of its young staff.

The cost fixed by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University of Buea for this Engineering Program is 50 000 F CFA (Fifty thousand Francs).

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the program, candidates must have a minimum Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and its equivalents in the following specialities:

– Network Engineering

          One year full-time

To graduate, a student must earn a minimum of 60 credits in all course

  • For B.Tech, B.Sc in Computing and related disciplines: To graduate a student must earn a minimum of 180 credits in all courses. This includes the master dissertation.

  • For B.Sc in Physical Sciences: To graduate a student must earn a minimum of 180 credits in all courses. This includes the master engineering projects and master dissertation.

Goal of this Postgraduate Degree Program

  • The Master of Engineering program is intended to impart practical knowledge and excellent skills in engineering software-intensive systems, which encompass the ability to cope with the complexity of understanding as well as developing them.

  • Students will understand the methodologies and techniques of software, network, computer vision, artificial intelligence and security management.

  • Students will learn the practical current trends in computer engineering such as Cyber Security, Machine Learning, Big data, Cloud Computing, Computer vision, Audit, etc.

Employment Opportunities

Software and Network engineers are highly skilled professionals whose services and skills are required in nearly all aspects of the economy within and without Cameroon. Potential areas of recruitment are: foremost, self-employment where limited only by imagination graduates can easily create a niche software company for themselves. The banking sector is a high employer of software and network engineering graduands, the oil and gas industry, mining, brewery, consultancies, etc. The internship that goes with the program should allow the student to take note of some business problems and bring innovative solutions.
