Within the framework of a Partnership Agreement between the University of Buea (UB) and DOBRE Technologies (DOBRETECH), the UB IT Centre has been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to provide six-month hands-on certification courses in Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity. The Chief Technological Officer (CTO) of DOBRETECH, Mr. Ewane Metuge Jr. and his team of IT Engineers were in UB on Thursday, 14 March 2024 to relaunch activities of the UB IT Centre in the presence of UB’s current and past Administration.

During his welcome statement, Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of UB paid homage to the commitment of the College of Technology and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology for training the students who are adding value to IT training. “It is amazing to see how the quality of knowledge we give our students inspire their personal ambitions and bringing them back to develop their communities and country”, said the VC.

The VC went further to salute the ingenuity of Professor Michael Ekonde Sone, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Teaching, professionalisation and the development of ICTs (who is keeping his commitment to transform the University of Buea into a Technological Hub in Central Africa) for the effective supervision of rehabilitation works of the UB IT Centre.

The CTO of DOBRETECH, Mr. Ewane Jr. is an Alumni of the College of Technology. He used the opportunity to share his experience with the students and called on them to use the facilities and training programmes offered by DOBRETECH and the University of Buea to gain certification and experience.
