A book entitled: INFORMATION LITERACY EDUCATION AND THE ROLE OF LIBRARIES, has been launched at the University of Buea. The book written by Professor Rosemary SHAFACK, is a veritable manual for researchers to blend the critical components of information literacy. It is a one-stop-shop to enable the reader quickly relate and gain a clear picture of how valuable information literacy can contribute to skills acquisition for lifelong learning.
Opening the ceremony, the Chairperson of the occasion, Professor Emeritus, Tchombe Therese was elated to see the realization of this project, which, according to her, will provide the necessary information needed for researchers and younger colleagues, to improve on the quality of thesis and research papers.
Reviewing the book, both Prof. Nol Alembong and Professor Emeritus, Cornelius Lambi underscored the necessity and timely nature of the book in its contribution to Library Science. The Chief launcher, Mr. Tang Emmanuel, CEO of Galaxe Media on his part, congratulated Professor Shafack for realizing this project. Mr. Tang congratulated Professor Shafack and praised her for the hard work, resilience, experience and proof that success is achieved through persistence.
The Dean of the Faculty of Education was proud to announce that this book launch was the 3rd in her Faculty since she became Dean a few months back. This, she said, was an indication that the Faculty is up and taking the duty of knowledge production very seriously.
Prof. Rosemary Shafack is the Director of the University Information Service (the Library), a Professor of Library, Archival and Information Sciences with 27 years of professional experience.
