Up to its commitment to ensure quality in its academic pursuits, in the dissemination of knowledge for the enhancement of science and national development and in instilling a sense of moral refinement in its interactions with students and one another, a two-day workshop on the induction of newly recruited lecturers and refreshing of older teaching staff ended today at the University of Buea.
Under the supervision of the Department of Academic Affairs, the newly recruited staff were introduced to the basic tasks of teaching and evaluation. According to Professor Nol Alembong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Teaching, Professionalization and the development of ICTs, the workshop was important for the newly recruited staff to have knowledge of the pillars of governance in a university system.
Different presenters took turns to sensitize the teachers on issues relating to health on campus, research and outreach, staff welfare, security, peace and a psychological climate on campus amongst others.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Teaching thanked the participants for their presence and assured them of UB’s commitment to the career development of its teachers and the general welfare of staff.
