UB Celebrates Innovation.
The entire University of Buea community, family and friends joined the Faculty of Engineering and Technology to celebrate NZOMETIAH NERVIS Tetsop, a final year student who won the Head of States prize for best ICT project of the year in a competition organized by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. Mr. NZOMETIAH used electronic waste to design a 3D printer. (See details in our earlier post).
The prize comprised of 10 million Frs cash and a project development component of 5 million Frs, making a total of 15 million FCFA.
According to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Emmanuel Tanyi, this is the latest technology in printing in decades.
The Vice-Chancellor praised the student for his creativity and called on other students to be on the lookout for innovation that can impact the community.
Also present was the Regional Delegate for Employment and Vocational training, who underscored need for creativity among the Cameroonian youth, to ensure self-sustainance and self-employment for a better future.
The ceremony was graced by the beautiful voices of the UB choir and animation from the UB Fans Club.
